3 L.A. Ice Cream Shops Serve Up Free Desserts Celebrating Amazon Prime Video Emmy Nominees

Last updated:

Would some free ice cream make your time in our current hellscape better? Amazon Prime Video and dineL.A. will offer free desserts from Aug. 11-14, each one inspired by a different Emmy-nominated Amazon Original Series.

The giveaway is titled “For Your Cravings,” which, unless you vote on the Emmys, is probably more exciting than “For Your Consideration.” On each day of the promotion, a different shop will give away 100 free treats.

To participate, grab a promo code from ForYourCravings.com. They go live at 8 a.m. each day. Use the code to preorder your dessert, then pick it up during an assigned time slot between 3-8 p.m. This ensures socially distanced dessert pickup.

And tomorrow’s participating shop is Coolhaus in Culver City. They’ll be dishing out the “Fairy Flight” ice cream sandwich: peppermint ice cream sandwiched between two double-chocolate cookies with chocolate cookie crumb and marshmallow swirl, dusted with edible glitter. This sandwich references the series “Carnival Row,” a noir-fantasy series starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne.

Score the “Cupid’s Arrow” on Aug. 12 at Gelateria Uli in Beverly Grove. This cold treat features peach sorbet topped with cocoa nibs and represents “Modern Love,” a rom-com anthology series based on the New York Times column of the same name.

On Aug. 13, we’re back to Coolhaus in Culver City. “The Homelander” features vanilla frosting ice cream, rainbow sprinkles and cupcake dough on blue and red whoopie cookies. This one’s for “The Boys,” a sci-fi series following a vigilante group’s efforts to take down a collective of superheroes. The character Homelander is kind of like Captain America if Captain America were an evil, overpowered sociopath, but the sandwich is probably delicious.

Head over to Wanderlust Creamery in Beverly Grove on Aug. 14 for “A Marvelous Masterpiece” made with vanilla and dark chocolate ice creams and lemon-scented sugar cookies served in a black and white waffle cone. This treat celebrates Amazon’s most-nominated series, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The comedy-drama stars Rachel Brosnahan as an aspiring stand-up comedian in 1950s and ’60s New York. The series received 20 Emmy nominations this year, second only to HBO’s “Watchmen,” which received 26.
