“The Library Music Film” follows producer/composer Shawn Lee from his recording studio in London through Europe and California to interview the pioneers of library music. He documents these lesser-known musicians-for-hire whose creations of stock background music for film, TV and radio in the 1970s and ’80s have been sampled into massive hits for Jay-Z, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and the like. Their works are coveted by vinyl crate diggers and DJs.
The film makes its L.A. premiere, followed by a Q&A with Lee, director Paul Elliott, Ole Georg of Capitol Media Music, DJ & record collector Mike Wallace and songwriter/composer AM. Local champions of library music, Adrian Younge, Madlib and Cut Chemist, who also appear in the film, will be in attendance.
Stick around for the afterparty with DJ collective Rendezvous!
